Willemstad World Heritage City has another chance to shine on the international stage by hosting the tall ship regatta ‘Velas Latinoamérica 2018’, July 15 – 18.
Ten traditional tall ships departed from Rio de Janeiro at the end of March. After heading south to round the cape, they made their way back up north along the west coast of South America. The armada is expected to cross through the Panama channel on July 10th, to arrive in Curaçao the morning of July 15.
The ships will be greeted with canon salutes from the Waterfort Arches and from that moment on four days of festivities down-town will commence. There is open house on the ships on Monday, July 16 from 9:00am – 9:00pm. There will be a variety of demonstrations in the harbor as well as musical performances by none less than Izaline Calister and Oscar de Leon.
